Apocryphal County

With a filmic dispositive that recalls James Benning’s recent The United States of America, Geoffrey Lachassagne pays a wonderful homage to literary and filmic cartography as the territory of imagination. However, William Faulkner’s fictional detours lead to nothing but the crude reality of colonialism, the same Lachassange surprisingly finds around the corner, thereby making this reality universal. Apocryphal County follows a movement of revelation that pushes the viewer to a perception game with History and Geography. Will the end of the film be a game over or a winning moment?
